R-P
Where are you from? How did you two meet?
Yasuharu Fuyama [R-P]: We both are from the Kanto district. We've been friends since we were in the same high school.

What made you decide to create music together and form R-P?
Yasuharu: We have played in many cover bands together since we were schoolmates. As a result of that, we formed R-P naturally.

What strengths do each of you bring to the group?
Yasuharu: Gashu is a good melody-maker. He brings many catchy melodies to R-P.
I am a engineer, and bring good sounds to R-P.

What has been the biggest difficulty that R-P has had to face?
Yasuharu: We don't have enough time to do music because we have to work to keep alive. We are troubled about that.

How would you describe R-P's music?
Yasuharu: "Pop rock with metal influences" or "Metallic power pop." I think it is very catchy and loud. I hope Metal fans as well as Pops fans love our music.

What inspiration do you draw on to write your music? Could you describe the writing process?
Yasuharu: First, Gashu writes a simple song as a frame. After that, I arrange the song to make more substantial. What we write in the songs are hardships, sorrows and delights of the human's life.

R-P is releasing their first album "Mellow" on March 23, how did you decide the content to be included in the album? How would you describe it?
Yasuharu: We chose songs which have hooks and beautiful harmonies.

Which track[s] stands out for you?
Yasuharu: Take me away. It is a true loud pop music.

"Mellow" is available through HMV and CD Baby. Is the cd available anywhere else? Are there any differences in the Japanese and US releases? Language? Tracks?
Yasuharu: We sell the same CD anywhere. There is no difference. Now, the CD is available through CD Baby and cdjapan.co.jp. We are under negotiation with other oversea CD stores to sell for English speakers.

What instruments do you use?
Yasuharu: Gashu uses the RODE condenser mic and the Jackson guitar. I use the Hamer guitar, non-brand cheap bass and self-made PC.

R-P's official site is well designed for both English or Japanese speakers. What prompted the inclusion of both languages? Who designed it? Who maintains it?
Yasuharu: I'm the webmaster of our site. I do everything about the web. I make English site for everyone in the world to know us.

Are there any future live dates we should be aware of?
Yasuharu: I'm sorry, not yet.

How do you feel about touring outside of Japan?
Yasuharu: I'm very interested in it. If we had a chance, we would play in a foreign country. But we have a job and have to work. It is not practical.

Do you have anything you would like to say to overseas fans?
Yasuharu: Would you please listen to R-P and buy our CD? We want many people all over the world to listen our music.

Is there anything you would like to add?
Yasuharu: Thank you for your support.
